Transfer Rater: Emerson Palmieri to Chelsea, Andre Silva to Swansea City

Things change in the blink of an eye in football. The Football Whispers Index takes the latest transfer rumours and gives them a score out of five; the higher the score, the more realistic and reliable the whisper.

Here are today's top five emerging whispers. And keep an eye on Transfer Talk for all the latest rumours.

Emerson Palmieri to Chelsea

With long-term Chelsea transfer target Alex Sandro seemingly off-limits, the Blues have turned their attentions to Roma left-back Palmieri. The 23-year-old Brazilian would cost around £20m according to the London Evening Standard. A left-sided wing-back is high on Antonio Conte's wish-list with Marcos Alonso the only natural option available to the Italian coach. Palmieri has played just 15 minutes of Serie A football this season.

Andre Silva to Swansea City

AC Milan splashed out £33 million on Silva just seven months ago, but he's failed to score a league goal for his new side. His agent Jorge Mendes is clearly working in overdrive to try to get a move for his client, as the 22-year-old was subject of Wolverhampton Wanderers transfer talk only a few days ago. Now it's Swansea linked with the Portuguese forward, with Wales Online reporting they are the bookmakers' favourites. They do want a striker, and Carlos Carvalhal also being Portuguese could be a factor in any potential move.

Khouma Babacar to West Bromwich Albion

A long-term Crystal Palace transfer target, Fiorentina striker Babacar is also on radars of West Brom and Brighton & Hove Albion according to Gazzetta dello Sport. Palace are said to already have made a £15m move, but with both Alan Pardew and Chris Hughton desperate to add goals to their side, there could be a bidding war for the 24-year-old. Highly rated at one stage after bagging 20 on loan at Modena in 2013-14, but he has struggled to reach those heights since.

Marko Grujic to Middlesbrough

Liverpool midfielder Grujic is set to leave Anfield on loan, according to The Sun. The Serbian international is struggling for first-team action this season and will be allowed a temporary move away. He's thought to have spoken to both Middlesbrough boss Tony Pulis and Cardiff City manager Neil Warnock, and will make up his mind in the coming days. Any move will involve a clause that stipulates financial punishment if he doesn't play.

Adama Soumaoro to Everton

Lille defender Soumaoro is an Everton transfer target, according to Sky Sports. Sam Allardyce is thought to want to bolster his defence during the January transfer window. The 25-year-old centre-back is thought to be valued at £18m by the French club, who would be willing to sell to relieve financial pressures. He has only made seven league starts this season after missing the start of the campaign through injury.
