Transfer Rater: Jamie Vardy to Manchester United, Malcom to Arsenal

Things change in the blink of an eye in football. The Football Whispers Index takes the latest transfer rumours and gives them a score out of five; the higher the score, the more realistic and reliable the whisper.

Here are today's top five emerging whispers. And keep an eye on Transfer Talk for all the latest gossip.

Malcom to Arsenal

Arsenal are only willing to sell Manchester City and Manchester United transfer target Alexis Sanchez in January if they can find a replacement. Their first-choice option is Bordeaux's Malcom, according to the BBC, though manager Arsene Wenger confirmed the club are yet to make a move for him. The 20-year-old has been in fine form this season, with seven goals and four assists in 18 Ligue 1 games and would cost around £40 million.

Rafinha to Inter Milan

Barcelona midfielder Rafinha is close to joining Inter Milan on loan, according to Gazzetta dello Sport. The Italian newspaper says he will sign for Luciano Spalletti's side, subject to medical checks. The Brazilian hasn't played since April due to a series of injuries, and wants to get game time, something he won't find in Catalonia at the moment. A loan move works for both Barcelona and Inter, with the Italian side unable to spend big in January due to Financial Fair Play restrictions, and the La Liga club unwilling to let the 24-year-old go permanently at the moment.

Jamie Vardy to Manchester United

Manchester United have made enquiries about a number of strikers as they look to give Romelu Lukaku some backup up front, according to The Telegraph. Those forwards reportedly include Vardy, Sanchez and Javier Hernandez. The England international would cost around £35m, but it would depend on whether the Srivaddhanaprabha family, who own Leicester, were willing to let him leave. Manchester United reportedly see his eligibility in the Champions League as a plus while they look for forward options.

Charly Musonda to Nottingham Forest

New Nottingham Forest manager Aitor Karanka wants Musonda on loan until the end of the season, reports The Telegraph. The 21-year-old midfielder will be allowed to leave on a temporary basis by Chelsea. He scored against Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup earlier this season and Karanka will reportedly face competition from Premier League sides, with the Belgian also a Bournemouth, Newcastle and Watford transfer target.

James Maddison to Tottenham Hotspur

Maddison is the subject of interest from Liverpool and Tottenham, with the Daily Mirror linking the Norwich City midfielder with a summer move to the Premier League. The 21-year-old has been in impressive form this season, scoring six league goals and providing five assists. He will stay at Carrow Road this month though, with Norwich unwilling to sell following the departure of Alex Pritchard to Huddersfield Town.
