Transfer Rater: Willian to Barcelona, Marco Asensio to Chelsea

Things change in the blink of an eye in football. The Football Whispers Index takes the latest transfer rumours and gives them a score out of five; the higher the score, the more realistic and reliable the whisper.

Here are today's top five emerging whispers. And keep an eye on Transfer Talk for all the latest gossip.

Willian to Barcelona

Willian could be a Barcelona target in January, according to Goal. That is only if the Catalan club fail to land their first-choice option, Liverpool's Philippe Coutinho, who Mundo Deportivo are reporting would cost around €145 million (£127m). Willian and Coutinho both share an agent, Giuliano Bertolucci, who played a key role in Paulinho's switch from Guangzhou Evergrande to the Camp Nou.

Marco Asensio to Chelsea

Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane is reportedly willing to let Asensio leave for Chelsea, on one condition. Diario Gol says the Frenchman wants Eden Hazard in exchange. The Real Madrid boss is reportedly open to freshening up his attack after a poor start to La Liga, which has seen the champions fall eight points behind leaders Barcelona with just 13 matches played.

Bryan Cristante to Manchester United

With Marouane Fellaini out of contract in the summer, Cristante has become a Manchester United target. The Sun claims the Premier League side are readying a £31m bid for the Atalanta midfielder to replace the Belgian. Cristante is on loan from Benfica, but Atalanta have the option to sign him for £10m at the end of the season and could quickly treble their money.

Manuel Lanzini to Tottenham Hotspur

ESPN FC sources understand that Tottenham are interested in the West Ham midfielder. Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino is thought to admire his fellow Argentine and would like to add him to his squad. He's put in some particularly impressive performances against Tottenham since arriving in England, scoring three times against them.

Jonny Evans to Arsenal

The West Brom defender was an Arsenal target back in the summer and it looks like the North London club could go back in for him in January. According to the Telegraph, Arsene Wenger is on the hunt for defensive reinforcements with Per Mertesacker retiring at the end of the season and is considering going back in for the 29-year-old. The former Manchester United man has 18 months left on his contract at the Hawthorns and is thought to be keen on playing European football.
