Things change in the blink of an eye in football. The Football Whispers Index takes the latest transfer rumours and gives them a score out of five; the higher the score, the more realistic and reliable the whisper.

Here are today's top five emerging whispers. And keep an eye on Transfer Talk for all the latest gossip.

Kalidou Koulibaly to Chelsea

Antonio Conte continues to seek strength in depth for his back three with Napoli's French-born Senegal international reportedly high on his list of targets. The left-sided defender would slot perfectly into the Chelsea lineup, but is wanted by many of the top sides across the continent. Calciomercato report that Chelsea will have to shell out £53 million if they want to bring the player to Stamford Bridge, but it's a price they might be willing to pay.

Marcus Rashford to Real Madrid

Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane is reportedly a Real Madrid transfer target, but Rashford is also on their shortlist when it comes to adding extra flair and firepower to their attack. The Manchester United prodigy's ability to operate in wider areas as well as up front could be another reason they are interested in him, as well as Kane, but it would be difficult to prise the 19-year-old away from Old Trafford.

Joe Lewis to Aston Villa

Steve Bruce's scout and former goalkeeper Tony Coton was recently sent to Aberdeen to take a look at their 30-year-old English goalkeeper Lewis. He is reported to have impressed during a 1-0 win against Hibernian, and it could be the final stage in the club's monitoring of the player as they prepare to make a bid. Villa's first-choice keeper is Sam Johnstone, but he's only on loan from Manchester United and, according to the Daily Record, Lewis could be a permanent option for Bruce going forward.

Aaron Martin to Manchester United

As per ESPN FC sources, Jose Mourinho's side have had scouts watching the Espanyol left-back as they look to bolster their options. The United recruitment team took in their game against Levante last Friday, and have asked to be kept up to date on the 20-year-old's future plans. The Barcelona-based outfit accept they will lose their star defender sooner or later and may be eager to get the best deal for a player whose contract runs until 2022.

Abel Ruiz to Arsenal

Ruiz has attracted interest with his performances for Spain in the Under-17 World Cup which is currently taking place in India. The forward has played across the front line for Barcelona B, and he has a £3m buyout clause in his current contract which runs out in 2019. According to the Daily Mirror, Arsene Wenger's side are interested in bringing the young forward to the Emirates with a view to developing him into a first-team player. The 17-year-old is also reportedly a Manchester City and Chelsea transfer target.
