Transfer Rater: Jean Michael Seri to Barcelona, Diego Costa to Al-Hilal

Things change in the blink of an eye in football. The Football Whispers Index takes the latest transfer rumours and gives them a score out of five; the higher the score, the more realistic and reliable the whisper.

Here are today's top five emerging whispers. And keep an eye on Transfer Talk for all the latest gossip.

Jean Michael Seri to Barcelona

Barcelona will return for Nice midfielder Seri in January. Their interest in signing the 26-year-old emerged this summer, but they were unable to get a deal done. Catalan newspaper Sport are reporting that a deal is now close to being completed, and the Ivorian will move to Spain for around £36 million. Seri attracted interest from a number of clubs this summer but Barcelona remain clear favourites to sign him.

Diego Costa to Al-Hilal

Costa remains a Chelsea player despite not being in the first team picture, and the Spain international has reportedly travelled to train in Madrid as he pursues a move to former side Atletico. However, as well as interest from Turkish side Fenerbahce, Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal have offered the striker €8m to play for them until January, according to Sky Sports Italy.

Stefan de Vrij to Liverpool

Liverpool finally have a backup option to long term target Virgil Van Dijk, with Calciomercato reporting they will challenge Juventus and Milan for the signature of De Vrij next summer. The centre-back's contract with Lazio runs out in 10 months' time, and a number of clubs will be in the market for him if he's available on a free. Liverpool remain interested in Van Dijk, though, and will try to sign both players next year.

Sander Berge to Arsenal

The towering Norwegian midfielder has confirmed interest from English clubs including Arsenal and Everton, telling Norwegian newspaper VG he is happy at Genk, but hasn't ruled out a move. The 19-year-old is the grandson of Ragnar Berge, a left sided defender who won one Norway cap and played professionally for Valerenga.

William Carvalho to West Ham

The tug of war between West Ham and Sporting Lisbon looks set to rumble on as the east London side continue their pursuit of the Portuguese midfielder. Slaven Bilic wants Carvalho to partner Cheikhou Kouyate in midfield, and the manager could make another move for the player, according to the Mirror. Kouyate returned to the club's midfield for their win against Huddersfield and Carvalho, who wants a move to the Premier League, would strengthen their central core even further.
