More Messi Magic: Who has Lionel Messi scored his goals against?

Barcelona's Lionel Messi has now scored a goal against 71 club opponents after he finally found the back of the net against Chelsea on Tuesday.

Messi entered the first leg of the Champions League round-of-16 tie without a goal in eight games against Chelsea, then finally came through with a 75th-minute equaliser in the 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge.

But who has Messi scored most of his goals against? That would be La Liga opponents Sevilla, who have surrendered 29 goals in his 31 games in all competitions throughout his career.

The 30-year-old has also been particularly efficient against his two Madrid rivals, scoring 27 times in 35 appearances against Atletico Madrid and 25 goals in 37 games against Real Madrid.

After scoring 28 goals in 38 appearances in all competitions this term, Messi now has 535 goals in 601 competitive fixtures for his club, with the bulk of his scoring predictably against La Liga opponents.

With Barcelona routinely qualifying for European competition, he has been particularly successful outside of Spain, too. The goal against Chelsea means Messi has now scored 18 goals in 25 games against Premier League clubs -- including a hat trick against both Arsenal and Manchester City.

Messi has also scored 12 times in 15 appearances against Italian clubs and seven goals in 12 games against French clubs.

Although he is averaging more than a goal a game against German opposition -- 16 goals in 14 appearances -- that figure is boosted by his five-goal haul against Bayer Leverkusen in the second leg of the Champions League round-of-16 tie on March 7, 2012.

Leverkusen aren't the only team who have struggled to contain Messi. He is averaging at least a goal a game against 41 opponents -- and he has faced 28 of them more than twice. Ajax have allowed Messi to score six times in three games and AC Milan have allowed him to score eight times in eight appearances.

And while Messi has scored one goal in four games against Sporting Lisbon and twice in five meetings with Juventus, nobody had been as resistant as Chelsea.
