ESPN FC's global editorial desks nominate their top weekend performers. Manchester City talisman Sergio Aguero netted a hat trick to top our list.
1. Sergio Aguero | Manchester City
Why he's here: Aguero scored all three of City's goals in Saturday's 3-1 win over Newcastle. Since Gabriel Jesus was lost to a knee injury on New Year's Eve, Aguero has stepped up with seven goals in five appearances across all competitions.
2. Luis Suarez | Barcelona
Why he's here: Another pair of goals for Suarez and he added a pair of assists, too, as Barcelona beat Real Betis 5-0 on Sunday. With 10 goals in his past eight appearances, the Uruguayan has more than doubled his season tally since Dec. 10.
3. Lionel Messi | Barcelona
Why he's here: Equalled Suarez's goal tally against Betis, but could only notch a single assist to his teammate's two.
4. Nabil Fekir | Lyon
Why he's here: The Lyon captain scored an early opener and assisted on the stoppage-time winner in Sunday's 2-1 upset of Ligue 1 leaders Paris Saint-Germain.
5. Gareth Bale | Real Madrid
Why he's here: The Welshman delivered a brace in a starring role as Madrid thrashed Deportivo La Coruna 7-1 on Sunday, and received a standing ovation from the Bernabeu for his trouble.
6. Alisson | Roma
Why he's here: The 25-year-old Brazilian keeper made six saves against Inter Milan, deserving of much of the praise as Roma held on to a 1-1 draw on Sunday despite being badly out-shot.
7. Eden Hazard | Chelsea
Why he's here: Hazard was Chelsea's creative hub as they broke out of their scoring slump at Brighton on Saturday, with the Belgian scoring twice in a 4-0 win.
8. Fabio Quagliarella | Sampdoria
Why he's here: He's still got it. The 34-year-old Quagliarella scored a hat trick in Samp's 3-1 win over Fiorentina on Sunday, giving him 15 goals and five assists in 20 Serie A appearances this season.
9. Thomas Muller | Bayern Munich
Why he's here: Bayern have not lost in 78 games when Muller scores, including Sunday's 4-2 win over Werder Bremen, when the 28-year-old netted a brace and added an assist.
10. Nacho Monreal | Arsenal
Why he's here: He lasted just 34 minutes before being subbed off with a hamstring injury, but in that time Monreal scored twice and added two assists as Arsenal cruised to a 4-1 victory over Crystal Palace on Saturday.
