Aaron Mooy, Son-Heung Min and Shinji Kagawa lead Asia awards list

Huddersfield's Australia international midfielder Aaron Mooy, Shinji Kagawa Son Heung-Min make up the shortlist for this year's Asian International Player of the Year award.

Mooy was a leading figure in both Australia's qualification for the World Cup and Huddersfield's promotion to the Premier League last season.

The nomination of Kagawa, the 2012 winner, reflects his inspirational role for both World Cup qualifiers Japan and Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund.

Son, the 2015 winner, has been a guiding figure for both his country South Korea and Tottenham Hotspur.

Meanwhile, Australia coach Ange Postecoglou -- who has yet to decide whether he will lead Australia to the World Cup after securing qualification -- is among the nominees for Asian Coach of the Year.

Postecoglou was nominated along with Japanese duo Ishii Masatada, the coach of 2016 J-League champions Kashima Antlers, and Takafumi Hori, of 2016 J-League Cup winners Urawa Red Diamonds.

The nominees for the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Player of the Year award, for Asia-based players, are China's Wu Lei, Syria's Omar Khribin and the UAE's Omar Abdulrahman Al Amoudi.

Nominees in the women's section are Australia's Samantha Kerr, South Korea's Sung Hyang Sim and Japan's Kumagai Saki.

Announcing its shortlists, the AFC said it would reveal the winners on Nov. 29.
