Thai stars Chanathip and Sarach keen on Malaysia Super League move

Thailand's top footballers Chanathip Songkrasin and Sarach Yooyen could be playing in the Malaysia Super League (MSL) as early as next season, with the 2014 Suzuki Cup winners expressing their interest in a move abroad.

Both players were part of Kiatisuk Senamuang's all-conquering Thai side that grabbed last year's ASEAN title as well as a gold medal at the 2015 Southeast Asian Games football tournament. They have also taken their nation to the brink of the next round of 2018 World Cup qualifying.

FIFA registered player intermediary Abdul Halim revealed to ESPN FC that he is in talks with the top four MSL clubs about bringing the two regional superstar to Malaysia for next year.

"With Johor Darul Ta'zim's AFC Cup win, Malaysian domestic football looks attractive for some of Asia's top players," Halim told ESPN FC.

"The MSL is just one of the options for them -- J-League and K-League being the others -- and I am in preliminary discussions with some of the top MSL clubs.

"Of course, major issues like loan and transfer fees have to be discussed, but both players are definitely interesting in plying their trade in the ever competitive and improving MSL."

As Muangthong United have gone toe-to-toe with reigning champions Buriram United for the Thai Premier League title this season, Sarach has further established himself as one of the best TPL midfielders. Chanathip, the twinkle-toe playmaker, may be keen to seek greener pastures with his team BEC Tero Sasana fighting off relegation.

Should either player move to Malaysia, it would give the MSL a massive shot in the arm, with other regional stars, including Singapore's Hariss Harun and Indonesia's Andik Vermansyah, already plying their trade in the Malaysian top flight.
