New FIFA official Fatma Samoura arrives in Zurich

ZURICH -- FIFA's new top administrator, United Nations official Fatma Samoura, has met staff in Zurich for the first time and will start work on June 20.

FIFA said Samoura "took part in a management meeting alongside FIFA president Gianni Infantino and later addressed the FIFA team."

Samoura, who is from Senegal and has no previous experience in football, says in a FIFA statement: "I cannot think of more exciting a job than this."

FIFA says she will work with two deputy secretary generals.

Former Croatia and AC Milan midfielder Zvonimir Boban will advise on football issues and current legal director Marco Villiger will work on commercial and administrative matters.

FIFA's previous deputy secretary general, Markus Kattner, was fired last Monday over alleged irregular bonus payments totaling millions of dollars.
