Bacaray Sagna has said Benevento can still avoid relegation from Serie A despite being 11 points adrift of safety. Former Arsenal and Manchester City defender Sagna said he would draw on the experience he had gained working with Arsene Wenger and Pep Guardiola as he prepares to make his first start for the strugglers. Sagna was one of several high-profile signings made by Benevento in the winter window and made his debut as a substitute in a 5-2 defeat to Roma, playing a further 45 minutes in the 3-2 win over Crotone. That victory cut the gap on safety to 11 points and Sagna said that, with 13 games to go, Benevento could still survive. "That is what I am here for," he told La Gazzetta dello Sport. "The problem is how far we are behind in the league, but we have some quality players with character. We can stay up." Sagna, 35, spent 10 years in the Premier League, and speaking about Wenger and Guardiola he said: "They are very different. "Guardiola works more on tactics than Wenger. I really enjoyed training under Pep and I learned a lot from him -- it felt like we were playing chess because every move was calculated. "For Wenger, on the other hand, technique was very important. He had us playing lots of mini games of one-touch football to try to refine the basics -- he's a master at this." Sagna said Benevento boss Roberto De Zerbi was "a little like Guardiola because he takes care of the fine details and always wants us playing the ball around and moving as a unit."
