Bayern Munich's Franck Ribery vows to bounce back from knee ligament injury

Franck Ribery, Bayern Munich's longest-serving player, has vowed to return from his latest injury setback and said he still has plenty to offer.

Ribery, 34, twisted his knee at Hertha Berlin on Sunday, and the following day it was confirmed that he faces several months on the sidelines with a torn ligament.

The former France international told kicker: "Of course it was a big blow to me, but everyone who knows me know that I've already had to overcome many difficult situations in my life.

"I've always been a fighter and I will master this challenge, too.

"Anybody who thinks it's over for me is wrong. Have no fear, I'll be back. I can still offer something. I want to carry on playing for at least another year."

Ribery, who joined Bayern from Marseille in 2007, declined to speak about the departure of former boss Carlo Ancelotti, having reacted angrily to him when substituted in a Champions League game last month.

"That's all in the past," he said. "We have to look forward. It's important that we all pull together and function better as a team."

Ancelotti left his role at Bayern last week after their 3-0 Champions League humbling at Paris Saint-Germain -- their biggest group stage defeat in 21 years.
