Thomas Partey opens door to Premier League move

Thomas Partey has revealed that he would embrace the opportunity to play in the Premier League in the future, although he's not currently eyeing a move away from Atletico Madrid.

The powerhouse enjoyed a fine campaign in La Liga last term, featuring 33 times for Diego Simeone's side during a breakout season.

He was rewarded by being named Ghana Player of the Year during an awards ceremony at the Marriott Hotel in Accra on Sunday, and took the opportunity to discuss his future plans with KweséESPN.

"At the moment, I am happy at my club," Partey began, "but in football, you never know when and where you'll be in the next day or year.

"The Premier League is a good league, it's very competitive and has some of the best players in the world," he added. "Hopefully, one day. I would like to play there."

Partey acknowledged that he was open to proposals about his future, with his profile having been raised by his fine campaign with Atleti. As well as starring in midfield, he also stepped in at right-back and full-back for the Rojiblancos.

"My agents are on it so I will leave everything for them," he added. "For me, I am happy playing football and I will continue to play where I am now until something comes up for consideration."

Despite an increase in his profile this season, with Partey having already been chosen by Black Stars coach Kwesi Appiah to captain the Ghana national team during the coach's tenure.

"Football is a game we all enjoy," the 25-year-old concluded. "What I have done, I enjoyed it but it does not put any responsibility on myself because I try to enjoy the game.

"I try to do all of the work I'm asked to do and make sure I do exactly what the coach says. I am only under pressure when I am in front of the TV cameras."

Partey and Atletico are set to compete in the International Champions Cup later this week, having been pitted against Arsenal, Paris Saint-Germain and Internazionale.
