Lions FC coach Warren Moon is hopeful that the traditional home of football in Brisbane still holds terrors for Adelaide United as they prepare to make their return in the FFA Cup's round of 16.
A Guillermo Amor-coached Reds outfit were fresh off the A-League double when they met Queensland NPL side Redlands United at Perry Park two years ago.
Trailing 1-0 for much of the second half, Redlands were totally outclassed but snatched an equaliser in the 93rd minute to force the match into extra-time -- then, somehow, found a winner to secure a famous FFA Cup upset.
"It's not a happy hunting ground for them and hopefully it stays that way," Moon told AAP.
"The biggest thing I've told my boys is even though Adelaide were far superior that night, Redlands hung in there, stuck in there and stayed in the game.
"For us that's going to be the key -- just stay in the game and see what can happen."
On paper, there's no reason why Lions FC can't shock the Reds again.
Founded in 1957 as Hollandia-Inala, they were one of the foundation teams in the old National Soccer League.
Promoted to the Queensland NPL for the first time this year, Lions FC easily finished top and conceded just 11 goals in the league.
"The pressure is always on the A-League sides," said Moon, a former professional player who was part of Brisbane Roar's inaugural A-League squad.
"It's their preseason, they're not quite where they need to be physically and everyone expects them to win.
"But we're talking about another level. I guess that's part of the fun -- seeing how my boys rise to the challenge."
Moon has a typically eclectic mix of players at his disposal, including former A-League striker Jean Carlos Solorzano, one-time Colombian youth international Jheison Macuace and overly eccentric goalkeeper in Luke Borean, who wears a beanie in all matches as superstition and occasionally sucks on a lollipop while playing.
To boot, Borean will also be Lions FC's first-choice penalty taker against Adelaide.
"He brushes his teeth 10 minutes before kick-off every week. That's the kind of character I have to deal with," Moon said.
Elsewhere on Wednesday night, Bonnyrigg White Eagles host Western Sydney Wanderers, Adelaide Comets take on Heidelberg United and Melbourne City face Newcastle in an all-A-League clash.
