Key fantasy football injury outlooks for Week 10

For reference, players might be classified on the team's final injury report of any given week as "questionable (Q)," "doubtful (D)" or "out." Besides the obvious designation of a player being ruled out, "questionable" indicates a player is uncertain to play, while "doubtful" means a player is unlikely to play.

Since the NFL did away with the "probable" designation two years ago, players who are expected to play on Sunday (or Monday) are simply removed from the injury report by the reporting deadline (Friday evening for Sunday games, Saturday afternoon for Monday night games).

For the purposes of this injury-related game preview, players will be grouped by position. Below each player's name, team, injured body part (as listed on the official NFL injury report), official game-status designation and game time (ET), the following elements are included: any known relevant details about the injury, the player's involvement in practice during the week and any additional notes to provide context around the player's status.

For anyone seeking more specific details about certain types of injuries, here is an illustrated injury glossary, which you also can find on the right side of the ESPN fantasy home page.

This week there are four teams on bye: the Denver Broncos, Minnesota Vikings, Baltimore Ravens and Houston Texans. Another situation to keep an eye on is the air quality in California as a result of wildfires in the area throughout the state. The Oakland Raiders and Los Angeles Rams have home games Sunday, and the San Francisco 49ers have a home game Monday night.

And now, onto the Sunday/Monday game preview:

Quarterbacks

Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Packers, knee (off pregame injury report), 4:25 p.m. ET

Additional injury details: Sprained left knee, Week 1

Practice report: Full Wednesday-Friday (Note: The Packers did not conduct practice on Thursday so the Thursday report is an estimation)

Notes: It's becoming easier to forget that Rodgers had a significant knee injury at the start of the season as he has managed to play in every game since. After a slight setback several weeks ago, Rodgers is now showing signs of improvement, as evidenced by his increase in practice activity to consecutive full days (where he had been limited early in the week before). While he continues to appear on the injury report, there is no doubt as to his status for game day.

Blake Bortles, Jacksonville Jaguars, left shoulder (off pregame injury report), 1 p.m. ET

Additional injury details: Injured in Week 8

Practice report: Full Wednesday-Friday

Notes: Bortles is required to be listed on the injury report, but given that this is his non-dominant shoulder and he has practiced fully every day, there are no questions regarding his availability.

Sam Darnold, New York Jets, foot (D), 1 p.m. ET

Additional injury details: Injured in Week 9

Practice report: DNP Wednesday-Friday

Notes: Darnold emerged from last week's game with a foot injury, but until late in the week coach Todd Bowles had left the possibility open that Darnold could play. Even as it became apparent with Darnold not practicing that he would not be the starter, Bowles still suggested he could be active as a backup for Josh McCown. The good news for Darnold is that clearly the injury is not a long-term issue, but this week it will be McCown starting under center for the Jets for the first time in 2018.

Derek Anderson, Buffalo Bills, concussion (out), 1 p.m. ET

Additional injury details: Injured in Week 8

Practice report: DNP Wednesday-Friday

Notes: Anderson has not yet returned to practice since suffering a concussion two weeks ago. He originally stepped in to replace an injured Josh Allen, but he is not available this week.

Josh Allen, Buffalo Bills, right elbow (Q), 1 p.m. ET

Additional injury details: Right UCL sprain; Injured in Week 6

Practice report: Limited Wednesday-Friday

Notes: Allen returned to a limited practice session last Friday and has been able to continue at that level throughout this week. He says his arm is feeling better and the consecutive days of work are a good sign, but it is too soon for him to return to a full game workload. Buffalo has a bye in Week 11, and Allen will benefit from the additional time for his elbow to heal. With Anderson sidelined, the team announced Saturday that it would start Matt Barkley, not Nathan Peterman.

Running backs

Adrian Peterson, Washington Redskins, shoulder (off pregame injury report), 1 p.m. ET

Additional injury details: Injured in Week 3; Shoulder injured in Week 5

Practice report: Limited Wednesday; Full Thursday-Friday

Notes: It's amazing that with as much as Peterson is playing -- and playing through multiple injuries -- that he is able to slightly upgrade in practice. He took no days off this week and put in two full days instead of one. Once again, Peterson will play Sunday.

Marlon Mack, Indianapolis Colts, foot (off pregame injury report), 1 p.m. ET

Additional injury details: Added to injury report for foot; missed four weeks this season because of hamstring injury

Practice report: Limited Wednesday-Thursday, Full Friday

Notes: Mack has been ridiculously impressive since returning from a hamstring injury. The foot ailment is a minor one, but the team limits his reps during practice so that he can keep churning out the yards on Sundays.

Leonard Fournette, Jacksonville Jaguars, hamstring (off pregame injury report), 1 p.m. ET

Additional injury details: Right hamstring strain, Week 1; aggravated Week 4

Practice report: Full Wednesday-Friday

Notes: Well, well, well. Look who's back. But is he back? Unfortunately the only way to find out if Fournette is truly past the injury is to see how he handles a full workload and the expectation is that test will come Sunday. Fournette is not even on the injury report heading into the game, which indicates the team has full confidence in his health. If fantasy players are a little skeptical, that's understandable but at least there is no question this week about whether Fournette will start. He will.

Kerryon Johnson, Detroit Lions, ankle (Q), 1 p.m. ET

Additional injury details: Injured in Week 5

Practice report: Limited Wednesday-Friday

Notes: Johnson hasn't missed time on game day because of his ankle, but his questionable status this week is of concern for fantasy players. The Lions have not offered any detail with regard to his injury, and his status probably will be a game-time decision.

Kenyan Drake, Miami Dolphins, shoulder (off pregame injury report), 1 p.m. ET

Additional injury details: Added to injury report in Week 9

Practice report: Full Wednesday-Friday

Notes: The shoulder issue did not limit Drake on Sunday and his full practice sessions this week indicates it won't limit him in Week 10.

Chris Carson, Seattle Seahawks, hip (Q), 4:25 p.m. ET

Additional injury details: Added to injury report in Week 9 (Note DNP Week 4)

Practice report: DNP Wednesday-Friday

Notes: Carson was a bit of a surprise active last week after struggling with a groin injury. The risk of playing came with a bit of a penalty as Carson was out for the second half of last week's game after aggravating the injury. No practices this week would seem to indicate he is unlikely to play, although the Seahawks have left the door open by listing him as questionable. If he does not go, this could mean plenty of work for Mike Davis.

Isaiah Crowell, New York Jets, ankle (off pregame injury report), 1 p.m. ET

Additional injury details: Injured ankle in Week 5

Practice report: Full Wednesday-Friday

Notes: Crowell has been on the injury report for multiple weeks but continues to play. He will do so again in Week 10.

Doug Martin, Oakland Raiders, hip (off pregame injury report), 4:05 p.m. ET

Additional injury details: Injured in Week 9

Practice report: Limited Wednesday-Friday

Notes: The injury doesn't appear to present much of a threat for Martin, but his production might present a threat for your fantasy team.

Peyton Barber, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, ankle (off pregame injury report), 1 p.m. ET

Additional injury details: Injured in Week 7

Practice report: Limited Wednesday; Full Thursday-Friday

Notes: Ronald Jones continues to be sidelined because of a hamstring injury and Barber continues to handle the primary running back duties. He had the same practice pattern last week and will play once again in Week 10.

Elijah McGuire, New York Jets, foot (off pregame injury report), 1 p.m. ET

Additional injury details: Fractured foot/surgical repair August 2018; returned to action in Week 9

Practice report: Full Wednesday-Friday

Notes: McGuire made his season debut last week, and it was his first game since undergoing foot surgery in the preseason. The best part of his outing was that he made it through unscathed, offering more optimism for him heading into Week 10. He is off the team's pregame injury report and is expected to take the field in what probably will be a timeshare with Isaiah Crowell.

Sony Michel, New England Patriots, knee (Q), 8:20 p.m. ET

Additional injury details: August procedure to address knee swelling; Added back to injury report two weeks ago; new knee injury in Week 7

Practice report: Limited Wednesday-Friday

Notes: Michel continues to make strides in his practice sessions with the team and appears poised to return to action this weekend. Fantasy players should temper expectations however; consider that in his NFL debut, coming off injury, the team limited him to 13 offensive snaps. His first game back after a big scare with his knee might result in a controlled outing, but if he is able to play without incident, good things are ahead.

Kapri Bibbs, Washington Redskins, shoulder (off pregame injury report), 1 p.m. ET

Additional injury details: Injured in Week 8

Practice report: Full Wednesday-Friday

Notes: Bibbs increased his practice activity to full sessions daily this week and he is off the pregame injury report (as compared to when he was questionable last week). With Thompson still out, Bibbs is in line for a passing down role.

Giovani Bernard, Cincinnati Bengals, knee (Q), 1 p.m. ET

Additional injury details: Injured (MCL sprain) in Week 4

Practice report: Limited Wednesday-Friday

Notes: Bernard has missed multiple weeks because of a knee injury sustained in Week 4, but he could return to action this week. The call will not be made until game time, but if he does go, fantasy players should not count on a major contribution as Joe Mixon is the clear-cut leader.

Chris Ivory, Buffalo Bills, shoulder (Q), 1 p.m. ET

Additional injury details: Injured in Week 9

Practice report: DNP Wednesday; Limited Thursday-Friday

Notes: Ivory was labeled day-to-day after leaving last week's game early because of a shoulder injury. He remained in a noncontact jersey through Friday, making his status for Sunday truly questionable.

LeGarrette Blount, Detroit Lions, knee (off pregame injury report), 1 p.m. ET

Additional injury details: Appeared on injury report this week

Practice report: Limited Wednesday-Thursday; Full Friday

Notes: It is unclear what ails Blount's knee, but his removal from the pregame injury report suggests it is nothing serious.

Wide receivers

Tyreek Hill, Kansas City Chiefs, groin (off pregame injury report), 1 p.m. ET

Additional injury details: Injured in Week 8

Practice report: Full Wednesday-Friday

Notes: After Hill was able to play last week, there was little doubt about his status heading into Sunday. In fact, he was on the field for the majority of the team's offensive snaps (62), handling two rushing plays in addition to his receptions. He was able to increase to full practices this week, and his removal from the pregame injury report indicates he is ready to go.

Mike Evans, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, knee (off pregame injury report), 1 p.m. ET

Additional injury details: Injured in Week 8

Practice report: DNP Wednesday; Limited Thursday; Full Friday

Notes: Evans followed the same practice pattern last week and played without incident. He also played without impact as he managed only one catch for 16 yards. For what it's worth, he was targeted 10 times so consider this an outlier. Evans will be available for Ryan Fitzpatrick to target as the team hosts the Washington Redskins.

Jarvis Landry, Cleveland Browns, wrist (off pregame injury report), 1 p.m. ET

Additional injury details: Injured in Week 9

Practice report: Full Wednesday-Friday

Notes: Clearly this was not a serious issue as Landry took all of his practice reps this week. Expect him on the field Sunday.

Julian Edelman, New England Patriots, ankle (off pregame injury report), 1 p.m. ET

Additional injury details: Added to injury report last week

Practice report: Limited Wednesday, Thursday; Not on injury report Friday

Notes: Edelman wasn't even on the injury report Friday, a clear indication the Patriots had confidence in his availability for Sunday's game.

Doug Baldwin, Seattle Seahawks, groin (off pregame injury report), 4:25 p.m. ET

Additional injury details: Added to injury report for groin this week

Practice report: DNP Wednesday; Limited Thursday; Full Friday

Notes: Baldwin appeared on the injury report again last week because of his knee but that was to be expected. After all, he indicated in the preseason that he would be managing his knee throughout the year. This week, however, it's a new ailment, a groin injury, that has Baldwin listed here. The good news is that his practice status was upgraded Friday and he was removed from the pregame injury report so this does not threaten his status for Sunday's game.

Sammy Watkins, Kansas City Chiefs, foot (Q), 1 p.m. ET

Additional injury details: Injured in Week 9

Practice report: DNP Wednesday-Thursday; Limited Friday

Notes: Watkins was seen limping in the locker room after last Sunday's game and underwent subsequent testing on his injured foot. When he did not practice either Wednesday or Thursday, he seemed headed for potential inactive status, but his return to practice Friday opened the door for him to play. It isn't known just how much work Watkins was able to do. Coach Andy Reid did not sound concerned about Watkins' latest injury when speaking with reporters early in the week but that doesn't automatically mean he is ready to play this week. Luckily for fantasy players, this game kicks off at 1 p.m. so his status will be revealed with plenty of time to make substitutions, if necessary.

Allen Robinson, Chicago Bears, groin (off pregame injury report), 1 p.m. ET

Additional injury details: Added to injury report three weeks ago

Practice report: Full Wednesday-Friday

Notes: After missing the past two games, not only did Robinson's practice workload increase substantially this week, he also declared himself 100 percent healthy. Those two noteworthy items along with his removal from the pregame injury report provide assurance for fantasy players that Robinson is ready to return to action.

Randall Cobb, Green Bay Packers, hamstring (Q), 4:25 p.m. ET

Additional injury details: Added to the injury report six weeks ago; DNP Weeks 4-6; Returned to action Weeks 8-9

Practice report: Full Wednesday; Limited Thursday-Friday (Note: The Packers did not conduct practice on Friday so the Friday report is an estimation)

Notes: Cobb returned to action from his hamstring injury two weeks ago but never quite rid himself of the injury report. As is often the case, Cobb suffered a setback because of his hamstring this week in Thursday's practice, and coach Mike McCarthy indicated his status for Sunday was far from certain. Although Cobb was listed as limited Friday, the team does not practice on that day making it difficult to gauge how ready he will be by Sunday. This is a late kickoff for the Packers and fantasy players might be inclined to look elsewhere for a receiver.

Mohamed Sanu, Atlanta Falcons, hip (off pregame injury report), 1 p.m. ET

Additional injury details: Injured in Week 4; aggravated in Week 6

Practice report: DNP Wednesday; Limited Thursday; Full Friday

Notes: Although Sanu has been able to play through this injury, he is still not past it. His limited practices are probably a reason he has been able to continue to suit up on Sundays. Since he hasn't missed time with it, the approach must be working. Expect Sanu to take the field again Sunday.

Taylor Gabriel, Chicago Bears, knee (off pregame injury report), 1 p.m. ET

Additional injury details: Added to injury report two weeks ago

Practice report: Limited Wednesday; Full Thursday-Friday

Notes: Gabriel appeared to aggravate his knee issue when he limped off the field late in Week 9. He was able to maintain the same practice activity as last week and his removal from the pregame injury report indicates the team expects him to play.

Kenny Stills, Miami Dolphins, groin (off pregame injury report), 4:25 p.m. ET

Additional injury details: Injured in Week 7; DNP Week 8

Practice report: Limited Wednesday-Thursday; Full Friday

Notes: Stills was a bit of a surprise active last week and played only about half of the team's offensive snaps. Perhaps that helps explain his very limited production of only one reception for 19 yards. His season-long production has not been stellar but he is healthier this week -- not even appearing on the pregame injury report -- so there is at least an opportunity for Brock Osweiler to find him Sunday.

DeVante Parker, Miami Dolphins, knee (off pregame injury report), 4:25 p.m. ET

Additional injury details: Added to injury report for knee this week

Practice report: Full Wednesday-Friday

Notes: After a shockingly productive Week 8, Parker was fairly invisible in Week 9. The knee issue that has him on the injury report isn't serious, given that Parker was a full participant in practice all week. He is expected to play again, hopefully with better results, in Week 10.

John Ross, Cincinnati Bengals, groin (off pregame injury report), 1 p.m. ET

Additional injury details: Injured in Week 4; DNP Weeks 5-6; Aggravated injury in Week 7; DNP Week 8

Practice report: Full Wednesday-Friday

Notes: Last year, it was a problematic hamstring for Ross; this year it's a groin injury sustained in Week 4 that has cost him multiple games. Although he returned in Week 7 after sitting for two weeks, Ross aggravated the injury and missed the following week. It appears however that the bye timing helped and Ross is on track to play. The Bengals are without A.J. Green who has a toe injury so Ross might have an opportunity to contribute.

Quincy Enunwa, New York Jets, ankle (off pregame injury report), 1 p.m. ET

Additional injury details: Injured in Week 6; DNP Weeks 7-8; Returned to action in Week 9

Practice report: DNP Wednesday-Thursday; Full Friday

Notes: Enunwa returned to action last week after sitting for two games because of an ankle injury and is on track to play again. With fellow wideout Robby Anderson doubtful to play, there could be more targets for Enunwa this week as Josh McCown will be throwing to him.

Robby Anderson, New York Jets, ankle (D), 1 p.m. ET

Additional injury details: First appeared on injury report for ankle two weeks ago

Practice report: DNP Wednesday-Friday

Notes: The doubtful tag tells you all you need to know about Anderson's status. He is not expected to play after not practicing all week.

Antonio Callaway, Cleveland Browns, ankle (off pregame injury report), 1 p.m. ET

Additional injury details: Added to injury report last Thursday

Practice report: Full Wednesday-Friday

Notes: Callaway was a late add to the injury report last week after injuring his ankle in practice. Another week removed from the injury and with a full slate of practices behind him, Callaway is in better shape heading into this week's game.

Pierre Garcon, San Francisco 49ers, knee (out), Monday night

Additional injury details: Injured in Week 7

Practice report: DNP Thursday-Saturday

Notes: Garcon battled through his injuries to suit up last week but that won't be the case Monday night. After not practicing all week, he will sit this one out.

Kelvin Benjamin, Buffalo Bills, knee (off pregame injury report), 1 p.m. ET

Additional injury details: Added to injury report this week

Practice report: Limited Wednesday; Full Thursday-Friday

Notes: There haven't been many details about the knee issue that landed Benjamin on the injury report this week but two full practices and removal from the pregame injury report tell us he will play. It should be noted that it will be Matt Barkley under center for the Bills this Sunday.

Cordarrelle Patterson, New England Patriots, neck (off pregame injury report), 1 p.m. ET

Additional injury details: Injured in Week 9

Practice report: Limited Wednesday-Thursday; Not on injury report Friday

Notes: This is not a serious injury given the Patriots had Patterson off the injury report by Friday. Expect him to be available to either run or catch Sunday.

Tight ends

George Kittle, San Francisco 49ers, chest (off pregame injury report), Monday night

Additional injury details: Injured in Week 9

Practice report: Limited Thursday-Saturday

Notes: Kittle has proven himself to be perhaps the most important pass-catcher in the 49ers' offense, and he showed a quick connection with quarterback Nick Mullens in Week 9. Mullens will get the start again Monday night and will be happy to have Kittle, now off the pregame injury report, available as a preferred target.

Jimmy Graham, Green Bay Packers, knee (off pregame injury report), 4:25 p.m. ET

Additional injury details: First appeared on injury report six weeks ago

Practice report: DNP Wednesday; Limited Thursday; Full Friday (Note: The Packers did not conduct practice Friday so the Friday report is an estimation)

Notes: This is familiar territory for Graham who plays each Sunday after getting some rest earlier in the week.

David Njoku, Cleveland Browns, knee (Q), 1 p.m. ET

Additional injury details: First appeared on injury report three weeks ago

Practice report: Limited Wednesday-Friday

Notes: Njoku has played through his injury thus far, (and got four targets last week after going without any in Week 8) and the hope is that he will do so again, but the questionable tag makes his status uncertain. Thankfully this is an early game, so fantasy players will want to check pregame inactives.

Jordan Reed, Washington Redskins, back (off pregame injury report), 1 p.m. ET

Additional injury details: Added to injury report for back this week

Practice report: Limited Wednesday-Thursday; Full Friday

Notes: In recent weeks, Reed has been a bit banged up as evidenced by his appearance on the injury reports. He has managed to play in every game this season, however, and will do so again this Sunday. He has yet to make much of a fantasy impact and might not be the ideal starter for fantasy players.

C.J. Uzomah, Cincinnati Bengals, clavicle (off pregame injury report), 1 p.m. ET

Additional injury details: Injured in Week 8

Practice report: Limited Wednesday-Thursday; Full Friday

Notes: Uzomah was forced to the sideline for a period of time with a shoulder injury in Week 8, but the respite during the bye appears to have helped his cause. After a full practice Friday, Uzomah was removed from the injury report and is expected to play as usual Sunday.

Rob Gronkowski, New England Patriots, ankle/back (Q), 1 p.m. ET

Additional injury details: Added to injury report five weeks ago; back added in Week 7

Practice report: Limited Wednesday-Friday

Notes: Gronkowski continues to make limited showings in practice but does not appear to be ready for a return to four quarters of full-contact football. ESPN.com's Mike Reiss reported Saturday that Gronkowski did travel with the team to Tennessee, leaving his status up in the air until inactives are due Sunday morning. Considering the nature of his injury (flare-up of a disk problem in his back) and his extensive history with his back -- including three surgeries -- it stands to reason that Gronkowski would sit through the team's Week 11 bye. Fantasy players are advised to consider other options.
