2016 season review... Manor

Formula 1

Drivers: Pascal Wehrlein, Rio Haryanto, Esteban Ocon
Points: 1
Best finish: 10th, Austrian GP
Best qualifying: 13th, Italian GP

Although Manor spent most of the year at the tail end of the grid, 2016 represented a huge step forward. After using a year-old Ferrari engine in 2015, the move to Mercedes power and a Williams gearbox offered an immediate performance boost, especially at power-dependent circuits. The MRT-05 chassis was also represented a step change for the team as technical director John McQuilliam started afresh, helped by the financial stability afforded by new owner Stephen Fitzpatrick.

The team's first point since the 2014 Monaco Grand Prix came in Austria as Pascal Wehrlein kept his cool in a chaotic race, but the season as whole proved bitter sweet as Manor was beaten to 10th place by Sauber at the penultimate race in Brazil.
