Sting Gondarenda will put his WBF Africa Cruiserweight title on the line when he faces hometown favourite Tony Salam in the 'Chaos in Lagos' event in Nigeria on October 26.
The bout forms part of Kalakoda Promotions and Kwesé Sports' Friday Fight Night series, and sees a rematch of the August fight in Harare, Zimbabwe, which Gondarendab took on a split decision.
"I clearly won that fight ... Gondarenda knows it, the Zimbabwean crowd knows it, the millions who watched across Africa knows it," Salam said.
"It is now personal. Gondarenda is going to pay and this injustice will finally be resolved. I am not risking letting the judges decide my fate again ... Gondarenda is being put to sleep."
The fight is a contrast of styles, with Gondarenda the come-forward fighter and Salam the slick counter-puncher, often fighting on the back foot.
Salam will need to be more definitive in his approach though. He clearly landed the cleaner blows, but it was the Zimbabwean champion's relentless aggression and ring control that perhaps swayed the judges during their first match-up.
The remainder of the bill features some of Nigeria and West Africa's top boxers normally campaigning in the USA and Europe, and provides an opportunity to show off their skills in front of home fans.
Kalakoda Promotions' partnership with LPMG Management and Don King Productions have made such fighters available for the occasion, with a long-term view of unleashing the untapped potential of Nigeria and Lagos as a fight destination.
The likes of Super Middleweights Isaac Ekpo, Ghana's Habib Ahmed, and Cruiserwight Olanrewaju Duradola will all feature on a stacked undercard.
Other notable fighters include Namibia's Lukas Ndafoluma at Middleweight, as well as a ladies bout featuring Nigeria's Edith Ogoke squaring up again Kenya's Florence Muthoni.
"We are extremely excited about launching the Friday Fight Night platform into Nigeria," Kalakoda's Jeremy Bean said. "It's a critical market to crack and it will be a process, but we are keen to get stuck in an build both a fan base and a stable of Nigerian boxers."
The event will be broadcast on Kwesé Free Sports, as well as sublicense agreements across the continent to some 50-million homes. Streaming will also be available on Youtube Live and on the Open View Platform in South Africa.
