The latest in a long line of stars signed from Southampton, the giant Dutch centre-back has stiffened the Reds' backbone and their defence is a lot less error-prone than it had been prior to Van Dijk's arrival.
Manchester City are the main the following weekend when they host plucky Brighton, live on KFS on September 29.
And, while City will expect three points, Chris Hughton is guaranteed to put out a bold and disciplined team capable of giving the hosts a difficult afternoon.
