Southampton travel to Liverpool for this weekend's live Premier League Match of the Week on Kwesé Free Sports.

The Saints flirted dangerously with relegation last season, but appear in better shape and are finding the route to goal more easily now, although they did let a two-goal lead slip in a 2-2 home draw with Brighton on Monday night.

They are more likely to find themselves chasing the game on Saturday, however, as Liverpool are in irresistible form, and the visitor's best hope of taking something from Anfield might be the Reds' tendency to 'switch off' in the closing stages of a match.

That blip aside, and perhaps the sense that Mohamed Salah's season hasn't really started yet, Liverpool look the most likely threat to Manchester City's aim of retaining their Premiership title.

Jurgen Klopp, now in his fourth season at Anfield, is closer than ever to having an ideal, balanced line-up consistently firing on all cylinders.

Most of the focus tends to fall on his attacking trio of Ballon d'Or contender Salah, Roberto Firmino and Senegal's Sadio Mane.

Throw in the intelligence and reliability of veteran James Milner, two penetrative young wingbacks - Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson - and a goalkeeper who inspires confidence, Alisson, and it's easy to see why pundits have Liverpool down as City's main challengers (espn fc story link).

And of course, there is Virgil Van Dijk, a central figure in Klopp's project to build a title-winning side. The latest in a long line of stars signed from Southampton, the giant Dutch centre-back has stiffened the Reds' backbone and their defence is a lot less error-prone than it had been prior to Van Dijk's arrival.

Manchester City are the main the following weekend when they host plucky Brighton, live on KFS on September 29.

And, while City will expect three points, Chris Hughton is guaranteed to put out a bold and disciplined team capable of giving the hosts a difficult afternoon.
