We need to take our chances against Vipers SC - Kerr

Gor Mahia FC head coach Dylan Kerr has called his players to be very focused and take their chances when they battle Uganda Premier League Champions Vipers SC in a quarterfinal clash of the CECAFA Kagame Cup on Sunday in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

"We have had the chance of watching Vipers SC twice and know what they can do. But they are champions in Uganda and we cannot down play them," Kerr told KweséESPN.

Gor Mahia FC defender Godfrey Walusimbi, who also features for Uganda Cranes said facing Vipers SC will be a very tough game.

"I know many of their players well enough and they also know me. But it is a knock out game and we must all do our duties," said Walusimbi.

But coach Miguel Da Costa whose side sealed qualification after a 3-0 win over South Sudan's Kator FC in a Group A clash on Wednesday told KweséESPN that his players are determined to prove a point against Gor Mahia FC.

"Some of these players are new in our team, but they have kept improving in the three games we have played in the tournament so far," said Da Costa.

Gor Mahia who also edged AS Port of Djibouti 2-0 in the last group game to secure qualification have maintained that they are in Tanzania to win the trophy.

Former Gor Mahia FC striker Dan Sserunkuma who has two goals to his name in the tournament, will turn the guns against his former employers.

Lordvick Aduda, the Gor Mahia FC Chief Executive Officer said some of the challenges they've been having off the field will not stop them from going for the trophy.

"We are taking this tournament seriously and want to win it," Aduda told KweséESPN.

The second quarter final game to be played at the same National Stadium will see Tanzania Premier League champions Simba SC face Djibouti's AS Ports.

On Monday Tanzanian side Singida United will battle their counterparts from Zanzibar Jeshi la Kujenga Uchumi (JKU) in the third quarterfinal clash before defending champions Azam FC (Tanzania) take on Rayon Sports (Rwanda).
