The Comrades Marathon took place on Sunday, with around 20,000 runners taking to the road from Pietermaritzburg to Durban at 5:30am. Bongmusa Mthembu and Ann Ashworth were the winners, but for most it was just about reaching the 12-hour cut off.

Brandon Jackson, who ran the race for a 28th time, told KweséESPN that the 'vibe' was incredible, as people lined the entire 90km route to cheer the runners on.

"The spectator support seems to get more every year, even with the cooler weather, which was ideal for the runners but not for the supporters. [There was an] amazing vibe on the road with plenty music by spectators cars, and mobile DJ setups everywhere," he said.

The morning after is a rough one for most, with Jackson saying: "Today the elbows are sore, the palate raw and the legs sore and wobbly, but it was all worth it. Two more to come! [to hit 30 runs]"
