Four second half goals enlivened Tuesday's African Champions League clash in Conakry as Horoya snatched a late equaliser to share the spoils with guests Mamelodi Sundowns in a 2-2 draw.

The Group C clash, postponed by a week to allow Sundowns to play a prestige friendly against Barcelona in Johannesburg last Wednesday, ebbed and flowed as the home side took a 51st-minute lead but then conceded two goals in the space of 10 minutes, only to come back and claw out a share of the spoils in a dramatic finish.

Horoya had taken the lead through Burkina Faso import Mandela Ocansey, tucking away a smart square pass from close range.

His clever turn through two defenders just two minutes earlier had sounded a strong warning, although his effort cannoned back into play off the upright.

Horoya had dominated up to that point and, despite parity after a goalless first half, were full value for their lead in hot and humid conditions and on a poor playing surface.

Sundowns looked flat up until then but suddenly sparked to life after the hour mark with a series of clever balls over the top of the Horoya defence, as their speedy strikers ran around to pick up the ball and cause mayhem in the home ranks.

It led to the 69th-minute equaliser which saw Percy Tau unselfishly set up Khama Billiat for a goal in his last game in a Sundowns shirt. The Zimbabwe international is leaving at the end of the month having refused a contract extension offer, and is set to sign for FK Qarabaq in Azerbaijan.

Billiat was then taken out by a vicious tackle by Horoya's World Cup-bound goalkeeper Khadim Ndiaye 10 minutes later, after running clear onto another ball over the back of the home defence.

The Senegal international was fortunate to be just cautioned, but gave away a penalty that Gaston Sirino stepped up to convert and put Sundowns 2-1 up.

With just 11 minutes remaining, 2016 champions Sundowns looked to prove their superior reputation.

But they were caught ball watching some four minutes later at a corner and allowed defender Aboubacar Camara to equalise with a powerful header.

Horoya join defending champions Wydad Casablanca at the head of the group standings with four points, with Sundowns on two after the opening two rounds of the group phase.

But the South Africans are next up against AS Port Lome of Togo, who have lost both their Group C games and look to be out of their depth on their Champions League debut.
