Luvo Manyonga breaks another record

Luvo Manyonga started 2018 with a bang as he broke the South African indoor long jump record in Paris last night.

The 27-year-old from Paarl in the Western Cape jumped 8.32m on his penultimate effort to clinch the title, breaking the national record of 8.18m held jointly by Khotso Mokoena and Ruswahl Samaai.

It is, however, still some way off the world record set by American Carl Lewis in New York City back in 1984.

World champion Manyonga, who is also the South African outdoor record holder with 8.65m, will hope to add to his medal tally when he represents his country at the Commonwealth Games in Australia in April.
