SuperSport United have confirmed they have reached an agreement with Mamelodi Sundowns for the sale of star forward Jeremy Brockie.

Sundowns are trying to push through the registration of the New Zealand international ahead of Monday's deadline for African Champions League qualification, and look to have won the race.

"It's never easy to lose a key player like Jeremy, especially off the back of three great seasons with us in which we made five cup finals and he became the second highest scorer at the club," SuperSport CEO Stan Matthews told his club's website.

"We also understand that at his age, this is Jeremy's last big move and opportunity to secure his financial future. Given that he has made a significant contribution to the club on and off the field, our Board have agreed to sanction his move to Mamelodi Sundowns and we wish him well in his future."

Brockie signed for SuperSport from Wellington Phoenix in January 2015 and made an immediate impact, netting on debut in a 1-0 win over Mpumalanga Black Aces.

In fact, he scored in his first four games for the club and would finish with a total of 54, just three behind SuperSport's all-time leading scorer, the late Abram Raselemane (57).

The deal has been six months in the making for Sundowns, who had attempted to capture Brockie in August, with the player handing in a transfer request to try and push the deal through.

But SuperSport held first with the club targeting the domestic league title this season and also in contention for the African Confederation Cup, where Brockie would eventually end as top-scorer with 10 goals.

Their chances of the league are now very remote and the final of the continental competition was lost to TP Mazembe, leading to SuperSport to cash in on their prized asset.
