Seven-time Nigeria league champions Enyimba FC have announced the appointment of Paul Aigbogun as Technical Adviser of the club, his third coaching stint with the Peoples Elephant in six-years.

The CAF Confederation Cup campaigners recently parted ways with coach Gbenga Ogunbote after they finished in third-place at the conclusion of the 2016/17 Nigeria Professional Football League season.

Aigbogun's first coaching experience with Enyimba was as an assistant to Salisu Yusuf in 2013, a year they ended up as Federation Cup (Aiteo Cup) winners.

The coach returned for a second stint with Enyimba at the start of 2016 as Technical Adviser but things did not go according to plan for both manager and club.

It was a season Enyimba failed to win any trophies, getting knocked out in the group phase of the CAF Champions League despite dramatically overcoming the hurdle posed by Etoile du Sahel in the final qualifying round.

The latest confirmation of Aibogun's appointment became valid on Wednesday after formal contract papers were signed. Club chairman Felix Anyasi-Agwu announced Aigbogun's appointment on enyimbafc.net stating his confidence in a successful outing for the club next season.

"There have been strong speculations concerning our coaching staff, lots of names have been thrown, but Enyimba has never been an organization to conduct our operations on the pages of newspapers or on social media," Anyasi-Agwu said.

"We are a very meticulous club that works diligently and quietly to achieve only the best results. We have appointed coach Paul and have made the announcement now, so too would we make other announcements at the appropriate times.

"I urge our fans to be patient and understanding. We are working very hard to ensure next season is a successful one for all of us."

Aigbogun will cherish a reunion with the likes of Ikechukwu Ibenegbu, Chima Akas, Joshua Osadiaye, Stanley Dimgba and Theophilus Afelokhai, some of whom he previously worked with at Warri Wolves.
