Pirates confirm Shonga signing

Orlando Pirates have confirmed the signing of Justin Shonga, who was a free agent after his deal with Zambian Premier League side Nkwazi FC came to an end.

During an interview with the Pirates website on Wednesday, the Zambian international spoke of his desire to emulate countrymen Perry Mutapa and Isaac Chansa, who previously represented the Buccaneers with aplomb.

"I am happy to be here," the 20-year-old said.

"This is the right move for my career and my ambitions. I would like to emulate other Zambian players who have done well at the club, such as Perry Mutapa and Isaac Chansa."

Shonga will fill the void left by the club's top scorer last season, Tendai Ndoro, who joined Saudi Arabian side Al Faisaly in the off-season.

Pirates' new striker has represented Chipolopolo eight times, scoring four goals.
