Defending champions Bidvest Wits finally picked up their first win of the PSL season on Saturday, while Kaizer Chiefs continued to underwhelm.

Gavin Hunt's Wits have endured a nightmare start to the defence of their Premiership crown but picked up their first win after a 1-0 victory over Orlando Pirates.

Gerald Phiri scored the game's only goal at Bidvest Stadium as the Buccaneers suffered their first league defeat under coach Milutin Sredojevic.

The Clever Boys move out of the early relegation zone with the result having picked up just five points from six league matches.

Pirates remain a point behind joint leaders Golden Arrows and Baroka FC, who both remain unbeaten with 12 points and played to draws on Saturday.

Arrows' draw was 0-0 against Kaizer Chiefs, whose inconsistency continues, and adding further insult to injury for Amakhosi was a head injury to goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune in stoppage time.

Khune banged his head against the turf in an awkward last-ditch tackle and had to be stretchered off, with attacking midfielder Edmore Chirambadare playing out the final few minutes in goal.

Baroka twice came from behind to draw 2-2 at home against Ajax Cape Town, with Richard Matloga and Lewis Macha on the scoresheet. Rodrick Kabwe and Tashreeq Morris netted the Urban Warriors' goals.

Rock-bottom Platinum Stars remain without a win this season after a 1-1 draw at AmaZulu.

Thabang Sesiny's early goal looked like it might have done the trick but a second-half penalty kick from Rhulani Manzini earned a point for Usuthu.
