Uganda's National Council of Sports has suspended the country's boxing federation following the disappearance of three athletes in Germany.

David Ayiti, Geoffrey Kakeeto and Muzamiru Kakande had travelled to Hamburg, Germany for the 2017 AIBA World Championship, but they failed to return.

Ayiti and Kakeeto lost in the first round, while African welterweight champion Kakande was not part of the draw, for reasons which have yet to be explained.

National Council of Sports assistant general secretary Patrick Ogwell explained the suspension of officials, telling Xinhua: "We are not going to accept this kind of management.

"We have decided that the whole Federation executive members are suspended as investigations go on following the failure of the boxers to return."
