League leaders Plateau United are away at 18th-placed ABS FC in one of the highlight fixtures of NPFL Matchday 35 as we reach the business end of the Nigerian top flight season.

United enjoy a six-point lead at the top of the table, and appear destined for a maiden league title with four games of the season to play. They are unbeaten in five games, but have been held to draws in their last two away games and will be keen to return to winning ways.

ABS FC have just one more home game after this encounter to save their season.

They have the worst defence in the league, having conceded 45 goals already this term, and they have their work cut out to neutralise the division's best attack, with Plateau having netted 46 so far.

Elsewhere, Enugu Rangers in 13th-place are home to Katsina United who are level on points with the Flying Antelopes, and a spot above their hosts on the table.

Both teams are unbeaten in their last three games, Katsina United recording a better goal return of five in that period.

Considering the away team's superior defensive record, and also a recent habit of scoring in away games, Rangers need to stay focused for the duration of the game if they want to halt their freefall.

Seventh-place FC Ifeanyi Ubah host Akwa United in Nnewi, and have a perfect opportunity to close the four-point gap between them and their visitors.

It promises to be an explosive clash.

In the reverse fixture in Uyo, both teams played out an entertaining draw.

A loss for Akwa United could see them losing further ground on MFM FC, potentially affording Enyimba an opportunity to overtake them on the table.

The People's Elephant travel to Rivers United in a game whose outcome could have significant consequences on both teams league fortunes, with the hosts only two points clear of the dropzone.

The hosts have drawn successive home games and got knocked out of the Aiteo Cup in midweek. Improvement is needed if they're to see off an Enyimba side that haven't conceded a goal in 270 minutes of league action.

Elsewhere, Kano Pillars will be looking to hand visiting Abia Warriors a first defeat in six, while hapless Lobi Stars are without a win in five and have dropped to 11th ahead of the visit of El-Kanemi Warriors.

The Borno Army have lost all but one of their away games this season, but will be hoping to boost their continental aspirations by capitalising on the Stars' recent slump.

Relegation-threatened Gombe United appear destined for a return to the second tier, but the presence of top scorer Austine Oladapo gives them hope away at second-placed MFM FC, who are without striking duo Stephen Odey and Sikiru Olatunbosun, both of whom are away on international duty with Nigeria.

MFM FC's other attackers need to step up and fill the shoes of the absent duo if they're to sustain their challenge to Plateau United.

Finally, troubled Shooting Stars welcome sixth-place Nasarawa United to Ibadan in a crucial game for the home team.

With many of the Oluyole Warriors' relegation rivals at home this weekend, Stars know they need maximum points to stand the best chance of keeping abreast of their rivals.
