D'Tigress hit Bamako for Afrobasket

Nigeria's senior women's basketball team arrived in Bamako, the capital city of Mali, on Wednesday, ahead of the 2017 FIBA Women's Afrobasket tournament which starts on Friday.

Head coach Sam Vincent was confident there would be enough in the arsenal to mount a credible title challenge, saying upon arrival: "I like the way the team is working right now.

"We feel good about the roster. They are experienced players. We have got post players, shooters and we are solid on defence."

He added that the team needs to play hard, play smart, and work together to have a chance of winning the tournament.

Vincent, who hopes to lead the team to their third Afrobasket title, said they will start training on Thursday: "We wanted to train immediately but we don't have court time available."
