Kwesé Friday Night Series: Desert Storm

Boxing

The Kwesé Friday Fight Night series rolls on with its next tournament in Namibia on 28 July.

Dubbed Desert Storm, the event is hosted in the seaside town of Swakopmund and features eight fights, two championship bouts with boxers featured from Nigeria, South Africa, Cameroon, DRC, Tanzania and Nambia, giving things a truly Pan African feel.

The state of the art Dome venue provides the backdrop to this exciting event, which is headlined with an IBF Africa Junior Lightweight Title fight between local Swakopmund fighter Albinuis Felessianu and Tanzania's Yonas Segu.

Albinuis Felessianu or "Danny Boy" as his fans affectionately know him is a talented fighter with knock out power in both hands, he is relishing in the opportunity to fight in his back yard in front of home support.

"I can't wait for this fight, this boy from Tanzania must feel my pain, my training camp is going great and I'm already on weight, this my time to shine," said Felessianu.

The main supporting bout sees another local fighter Abraham Ndauendapo take on South African Nkosinathi Ntshangase for the WBF Africa Super Featherweight Title.

Other notable fights on the bill are an international non title heavyweight bout between former WBF Africa Heavyweight Champion Elvis Moyo and Nigeria's Akeem Tijani.

Moyo, who has gained recent popularity by switching and competing in mixed martial arts in the EFC, now returns to the boxing ring in the start of a bid to reclaim his WBF Africa Title.

The undercard also features Cameroon Olympian and decorated amateur Smaila Hamaman making his much anticipated professional debut, the opening fight also see's Nambian boxing legend Harry Simon's son square off in a non title welterweight bout.

With recent license agreements now in place, the event can be watched live across multiple channels: Kwesé Free Sports, KS1 and on the Kwesé mobile app.

With the sustained frequency of boxing events hosted in different cities every month, Kalakoda promotions and Kwesé Sports are repositioning boxing across the continent and providing a new platform to showcase the next generation of African boxing stars.
