Hoops and Reads stun Nigeria Customs

Hoops and Reads delivered an absolute shocker defeating Nigeria Customs 67-65, in a week six game of the Kwesé Premier Basketball League on Thursday.

The win was crucial for Hoops and Reads as they bounced back from a weekend defeat to Oluyole Warriors, remaining fourth on the log while Customs are in third place despite the loss.

Emilagba Bolaji and Balogun Ifeoluwa of Hoops and Reads, and Ayodele of Nigeria Customs were the leading scorers in the game - the trio equalling 14 points apiece.

Debutants Hoops won the first quarter 13-11; with Customs edging the second quarter 31-30.

The third quarter brought out the best in the more experienced Customs team with Ayodele netting eight points in the quarter.

Customs guard Dike Madina was a decisive factor for his team, recording a game high of 13 rebounds.

The third quarter ended in a tie at 47-47.

Seun Akinwale brought his experience to the forefront in the last quarter for Customs and netted 9 of his 12 points.

A high number of turnovers and poor shooting from Customs saw the spirited Hoops team rally back to eventually earn a narrow 67-65 win the Lagos derby.
