Michael Van Gerwen beats Gary Anderson to win third Masters title

Darts

World champion Michael van Gerwen has extended his unbeaten run on the professional darts circuit as the Dutchman claimed a third successive Masters title in Milton Keynes.

As was the case in the World Championship final at the Alexandra Palace, Van Gerwen defeated Gary Anderson in the final 11-7.

Van Gerwen -- who hasn't been beaten since mid October -- pocketed £60,000 for the tournament victory after he earlier accounted for Adrian Lewis, Mensur Suljovic and Simon Whitlock.

"I feel great, it means a lot to me and every title is special," Van Gerwen said.

"Gary is a fantastic player and we always have great games. You have to throw 105-110 averages now to win and I've done that."

The next PDC event is the start of the Premier League season in Newcastle on Thursday.
