Darts

James Wade cruised into the second round of the William Hill World Darts Championship with a clinical 3-0 victory over Ronny Huybrechts.

The sixth seed lost the first leg in each set of his opening match at London's Alexandra Palace but was never troubled in a comfortable win over the Belgian.

Wade, who won the match with a brilliant 141 checkout, will face former world champion Steve Beaton in the second round.

Number eight seed Mensur Suljovic hit two 180s and a 120 finish to see off Ron Meulenkamp 3-0 and set up a clash with Mark Webster.

Elsewhere, Robert Thornton cruised past qualifier Zoran Lerchbacher in straight sets. The Austrian earlier beat Simon Stevenson in the night's preliminary match.

Thornton, the ninth seed, will play Daryl Gurney for a place in the third round.
