South African Alan Hatherly is the new Under-23 cross-country world champion after winning at the UCI Mountain Bike World Championships in Lenzerheide, Switzerland, on Friday.

Hatherly, who competed at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, topped the podium in a time of 1:21.22, while Christopher Blevins of the U.S. finished second and David Nordemann of the Netherlands third.
