Geraint Thomas refuses to rule out Team Sky exit despite Tour de France win

Tour de France winner Geraint Thomas has cast uncertainty over his future at Team Sky.

The 32-year-old became the first Welshman to win the Tour on Sunday in Paris, staving off competition from fellow Briton Chris Froome and Tom Dumoulin to secure the yellow jersey.

However, despite his success this season with the British outfit, there remains a doubt as to whether he be their lead rider for next year's Tour.

And asked whether he could look to move elsewhere in order to guarantee another challenge in 2019, Thomas refused to rule out a switch.

"I just want to enjoy this. I don't know," he told reporters. "We'll see but I am not thinking about it at the minute."

Thomas joined Team Sky in 2010, where he has also tasted glory in the 2015 E3 Harelbeke and the 2017 Tour of the Alps.

His win on Sunday was the sixth by a Team Sky rider in seven years.

Dutchman Tom Dumoulin finished second for Team Sunweb in Paris ahead of Chris Froome, who ended up third overall in the standings.
