Laura and Jason Kenny announce birth of baby boy

Laura Kenny has given birth to her first child.

The four-time Olympic champion announced the arrival of Albert Louie Kenny on Instagram, with a photo of her alongside husband Jason Kenny, a six-time Olympic gold medallist, and dogs.

She said son Albert was born late on Wednesday, a week following his due date.

Kenny became Britain's most successful female Olympian a year ago when she won omnium and team pursuit titles for the second time in Rio.

The following month she married fellow cycling champion Jason Kenny and in February the pair announced they were expecting a baby in a social media post showing two adult bikes and a small child's bike.

Kenny has already declared her intention to compete at a third Olympic Games in Tokyo in 2020 but will not rush back to the sport.

The 25-year-old will definitely miss the Track Cycling World Championships in Apeldoorn, Holland in March next year and the Commonwealth Games on Australia's Gold Coast the following month.
