Scorecard

India's Under-21 women's side continued their good form, with a comfortable victory over Pakistan at Lahore. Though the margin of victory, 30 runs, was significant, there were signs of a good fight from Pakistan in their pursuit of 208 runs set by India.

Put into bat for the second time, the Indian openers Karuna Jain and Shwetha Jadhav gave India a solid start with an 87-run opening stand; Jadhav dominated the partnership with her brisk knock of 57 from 77 balls. The solid start was consolidated by Rumeli Dhar, who struck an unbeaten 58 from 60 balls, and Diana David whose 30 came from 37 balls. Together, Dhar and David put on 64 runs for the third wicket. None of the Pakistan bowlers had any impact on the Indian batsmen; indeed, two of the three Indian wickets to fall were run-outs.

Pakistan replied well in pursuit of 208 to win, with Sana Javed hitting 60 from 93 balls with eight fours and a six. Shamsa Hashim, Pakistan's captain, also batted sensibly - but she was left unbeaten on 41, as the Pakistanis were sapped of runs. There was some good medium-pace bowling by Dhar, who took 2 for 28, which also gave her the Man-of-the-Match award.
