1.35pm Second belting finish in two days. Test cricket - you beauty! About 14 hours after West Indies stunned England, Bangladesh have toppled Australia. Taijul jumps onto Shakib. The Mirpur crowd goes wild. Bangladesh's Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is also in attendance, watching the players rejoice. Tamim Iqbal, who set it up for his side with a measured 71 on the first day, flashes a big smile.

Australia entered the fourth day needing 156 with eight wickets in hand. Australia's captain Steven Smith and his deputy David Warner pressed onto add 130 - the side's highest stand in a fourth innings in Asia. Enter Shakib Al Hasan. He dismissed both the big runs and went onto carve up the middle order. He marked his 50th Test with a match haul of ten wickets to add to his crucial 84 in the first innings. From 158 for 2, Australia slumped to 199 for 8. Pat Cummins and Nathan Lyon then resisted briefly before Taijul Islam provided the finishing kick. Landmark moment for Bangladesh cricket. They came close in Fatullah in 2006. Eleven years later, they have beaten Australia.

Bangladesh have now won Tests against England, Sri Lanka and Australia within the past year. The red sun keeps rising

"Yeah, it was a great Test match," Steven Smith says. "Credit to Bangladesh - the way they played in the first innings. We fought back after the Tamim-Shakib partnership. We let ourselves down in the first innings. I thought it was pretty difficult to bat in the second innings with the variable bounce. The tail helped the batters around - no excuses for us [lack of match practice]. The practice wickets were fantastic. The wicket spun from the first day, as I said we let ourselves down with the bat in the first innings. Warner has worked very hard, he played particularly well to score a hundred. It is one of those wickets where you are never really in. We were not able to stick to our game plan as long as we could in the first innings. Looking forward to the second game in Chittagong."

"Great feeling beating Australia, especially Shakib and Tamim were outstanding," Mushfiqur says. "The performance has been consistent. Our spinners - Taijul and Shakib - were brilliant. Tamim and Shakib partnership set it up for us. There is a lot of room for improvement. 150 runs and eight wickets to take today, the boys showed character. Hopefully, in the next Test we will come harder and seal the series. It is like a snake moving all around [Keeping on this pitch?]. Thanks to the crowd, we shall wish them ."

Shakib, of course, is the Player of the Match: It feels great to contribute for the team. I thank the crowd for coming in and supporting us.

Shakib then takes the mike and speaks to the crowd in Bengali. "Don't know who believed in us today or not, but during the drinks break, I told the rest of the team that 'whoever has come to the ground today believes that we will win, so we can't let these guys down.'"

"Last night, I did not believe that we can win today. I really did not. But my wife told me that 'Shakib, you will make Bangladesh win tomorrow.' So, thanks to my wife for believing in me."

Many thanks for your company and comments. Hope you enjoyed the Mirpur rollercoaster as much as we did. Do come back for post-match stuff from Mohammad Isam and Adam Collins. From Sanjay Murari, Shashank Kishore, and Deivarayan Muthu, it's goodbye and cheers

Raviraj Arora: "Time has come for Australian selectors to look beyond Mathew Wade. He has been given enough chances now and with Ashes so close, Australia need a WK who can perform in all conditions."

Venkatachalam: "What a Week for Test Cricket.. Just goes to show there is no need for glamour in form of Night test and all. More you try bring in change, more it fails. How this one and the Windies test has naturally grown beautiful. Long live Test cricket."

Hassan Alamin: "Now, both the team will realise that they should have one more batsman or a spinner instead of a fast bowler.

Taijul Islam to Hazlewood, OUT, #Scenes in Mirpur! Taijul pins Hazlewood in front and wraps up a famous win for Bangladesh. They beat Australia for the first time ever in Test cricket! Tossed up and turns into the left-hander, from around the wicket, Hazlewood plays down the wrong line and is rapped on the front pad in line with middle. That's plumb. Hazlewood signals for a review, but Australia have none left. It's all over in Mirpur. What a match
