CLEMSON, S.C. -- Clemson receiver Hunter Renfrow suffered an injury in the second quarter of Saturday night's 35-6 win against Duke and did not return.
Coach Dabo Swinney said Renfrow hit his head when he landed hard on the ground while laying out and trying to catch a pass in the first half. He was slow to get up, appeared to be woozy and had to be helped to the sideline by athletic trainers before he was taken directly to the locker room.
Swinney said the Clemson medical staff wanted to take all of the proper precautions with Renfrow, and he seemed to be fine after the game.
"He was trying to get up and talking and begging to let him get up," Swinney said. "But they were checking to make sure he was OK, his neck and everything, and have to take a lot of precaution. They even asked him when he was getting married, and he said April 13. So his wife [Camilla] will be happy to know.
"He was good at halftime and good after the game. But like I said, they will go through their evaluation of him and let me know [Sunday] where he is."
Renfrow, long a fan favorite, was one of 33 seniors for No. 2 Clemson honored prior to the game on Senior Night. He caught the game-winning touchdown pass against Alabama to lead the Tigers to the 2016 national championship.
Earlier in the game, Renfrow caught a pass for the 39th consecutive game to break Artavis Scott's school record for consecutive games with a reception.
