Aaron Robinson expected to be OK after scary injury in opener

College Football, UCF Knights, UConn Huskies

EAST HARTFORD, Conn. -- No. 21 UCF's successful start to the new season was marred by an injury to defensive back Aaron Robinson on the opening kickoff against Connecticut.

Robinson, a redshirt sophomore cornerback, was covering the kickoff Thursday night when he appeared to collide head-first with another UCF player while making the tackle. Robinson had to be cut from his shoulder pads near the spot of the hit as his teammates kneeled nearby in prayer. He was taken off the field on a stretcher, giving the crowd the thumbs-up sign as he was wheeled to an ambulance.

Robinson gave a thumbs-up sign while leaving the field.

Following the game, a 56-17 victory for the Knights, coach Josh Heupel said Robinson is expected to be fine, but will be kept overnight at a local hospital for observation.

Robinson transferred to UCF from Alabama.

UCF extended the longest winning streak in the nation to 14 games as quarterback McKenzie Milton, the reigning American Athletic Conference offensive player of the year, threw for 346 yards and five touchdowns.
