The unoccupied home of Nebraska football coach Scott Frost was burglarized over the weekend, according to Lincoln, Nebraska, police.
Although initial reports indicated that more than $165,000 in memorabilia was stolen, including numerous championship rings belonging to the coach, Frost released a statement later Monday saying that some of the missing rings had been found. Later Monday, police said Frost found all of his missing rings in his garage.
"The incident that occurred at our home is obviously very disappointing and discouraging," Frost said in a statement. "All of our belongings were gone through, and it will take some time to determine exactly what is missing and the value of those items.
"I would like to clarify that some items initially reported as missing have been found, including some of the rings listed on the police report. Also, the value of what we believe to actually be missing is lower than what has been publicly reported."
The home in southwest Lincoln is under renovation. Police believe thieves entered through an unlocked garage, Capt. Danny Reitan said. Later Monday, Lincoln Police Capt. Todd Kocian said while a gaming console and UCF helmet that had been reported as stolen have since been found, Frost is still without other memorabilia, including photographs, football helmets and shoes.
There are currently no suspects.
A former Nebraska quarterback whose team won a share of the national title in his senior year in 1997, Frost returned to his alma mater in December amid great fanfare. He has been hailed as a savior of the proud program, which last won a conference title in 1999 and has endured four coaching changes since 2004.
The 43-year-old Frost led UCF to a 13-0 season in 2017 and a postseason victory over Auburn. He spent seven years as an assistant coach at Oregon before taking over at UCF two years ago.
Frost and his wife have an 8-month-old son. The family has not yet moved into the home.
