Former Arizona State cornerback Robbie Robinson was arrested Friday after he allegedly posted on social media that he wanted to "spray the stadium up."
Robinson, 20, was charged with making terroristic threats, disruption of an educational institution and possession of marijuana, ASU police spokeswoman Katy Harris said in an email. ASU police became aware of threats of violence against members of the school's athletics community at noon Friday, Harris said, and Robinson was arrested at approximately 8 p.m. at an off-campus location with the assistance of Tempe police.
On the Twitter account believed to belong to Robinson, a post indicated he was trying to buy a gun. "Give me 25. Give me life," the post said. "Give me liberty or give me death. [I don't care]. I'm not staying quiet. I'm hurt."
As of Sunday afternoon, Robinson remained in Maricopa County jail, according to online records, and is being held on $50,000 bond.
Among myriad tweets sent Friday from the account were claims that Arizona State fans were racist and a photo showing an apparent text exchange with an ASU police officer.
Robinson appeared in 10 games as a freshman in 2016. He was credited with five tackles and an interception before leaving the team after the season and saying he planned to transfer. He signed with the Sun Devils in the Class of 2016 and was ESPN's No. 29-ranked cornerback in the country.
He has not been enrolled at Arizona State for more than a year, according to Harris.
