Rutgers names Corey Brown defensive line coach

PISCATAWAY, N.J. -- Rutgers has hired Corey Brown as its defensive line coach.

Coach Chris Ash announced the hiring of the former Iowa defensive tackle on Tuesday.

A Houston native, Brown spent the last four seasons coaching the defensive line at Miami (Ohio). He spent the previous two seasons as a graduate assistant at Notre Dame.

Miami (Ohio) ranked 14th in the country in red zone defense last season, 24th in first downs defense and 43rd in scoring defense.

Prior to Notre Dame, Brown coached for four seasons at Iowa Western Community College and two years at North Iowa Area Community College.

Brown played for Iowa from 1995-99. He was teammates there with Rutgers' current offensive line coach, AJ Blazek.
