Ohio State LBs Jerome Baker, Dante Booker miss rout of Spartans

College Football, Ohio State Buckeyes

Ohio State starting linebackers Jerome Baker and Dante Booker did not play in Saturday's 48-3 win over Michigan State due to injury, the school announced just prior to kickoff.

Baker is "going to be cleared" for next week's game against Illinois, coach Urban Meyer said after the win. Booker hasn't been cleared, but Meyer anticipates he will be healthy to play against the Illini as well.

Cornerback Damon Arnette left Saturday's game with a leg injury that Meyer called a thigh bruise.

"Got all the X-rays back. It's a pretty tough thigh bruise, but structurally he's OK," Meyer said.

Entering Saturday, Baker was the Buckeyes' second-leading tackler, with 44 tackles and two sacks in nine games this season. Booker has recorded 31 tackles and two sacks.

The Buckeyes and Spartans entered Saturday in a first-place tie in the Big Ten East, and the win gives Ohio State the upper hand on the division title with two conference games remaining.

ESPN's Dan Murphy and The Associated Press contributed to this report.
