Blumrick leads Stephen F. Austin to 42-14 win over HBU

HOUSTON -- Jake Blumrick threw for two touchdowns and ran for another and Stephen F. Austin won for the first time in four weeks, beating Houston Baptist 42-14 in Southland Conference action on Saturday night.

Blumrick accounted for three of SFA's last four scores as the Lumberjacks won the second half 28-7, after leading 14-7 at the break.

Thomas Hutchings ran it in for SFA's first two scores. Blumrick hit Josh McGowen on a 61-yard scoring strike early in the third and found Tamrick Pace open over the middle from the 24 for a 28-7 lead late in the third. Blumrick ran it in from the 6-yard line and Jamall Shaw scored from the 1 to finish the scoring for SFA (2-5, 2-4).

Blumrick threw for 273 yards. McGowen rushed for 132 yards and caught two passes for 66 yards and a touchdown. Terian Goree had 106 yards receiving on nine catches.

The Lumberjacks recorded seven sacks in the first half as SFA finished with 492 total yards while limiting the Huskies to 255.

Bailey Zapp threw for 143 yards and two touchdowns for Houston Baptist (1-6, 0-5) which has lost six straight games.
