Stuart accounts for 4 TDs as Duquesne edges Dayton 28-23

DAYTON, Ohio -- Tommy Stuart passed for 253 yards with two touchdowns and ran for two more, helping edge Duquesne past Dayton 28-23 on Saturday.

Stuart, a graduate transfer from Boise State, completed 19 of 31 passes and found Nehari Crawford with a 58-yard scoring pass that tied the game at 7-7. He hit Kellon Taylor from the 15 to break a 14-14 tie just a half-minute before halftime. Duquesne (2-1) led the rest of the way.

In the fourth quarter, Stuart capped an 81-yard drive with a TD run from the 6, putting the Dukes up 28-17. The Northeast Conference favorites were 3-for-3 in the red zone and rolled up 437 yards total offense.

Dayton's (1-2) David Leisring picked off Stuart with 4:47 remaining and Tucker Yinger scored from the 5 three plays later, but a two-point conversion pass was high and the Flyers trailed 28-23 with 4:10 to go. Duquesne ate up all but 19 seconds of the clock to hold on.
