Tillery breaks SWAC record; Southern beats Alcorn St. 41-33

College Football, Alcorn State Braves, Southern Jaguars

LORMAN, Miss. -- Lenard Tillery ran for three scores and 195 yards to become the Southwestern Athletic Conference career-rushing leader as Southern University beat Alcorn State 41-33 on Saturday to remain undefeated in the conference.

Tillery ran for a 12-yard touchdown on the Jaguars' opening drive, then added TD-runs of 63 and 22 yards in the third quarter. His 4,132 career yards rushing surpasses Destry Wright's 4,050 yards with Jackson State from 1997-1999.

Austin Howard threw two touchdown passes in the second quarter for the Jaguars (5-2, 5-0), who snapped a five-game losing skid against Alcorn State (3-4, 3-3).

The Braves pulled to 38-26 early in the fourth quarter on Lenorris Footman's 3-yard run. Brad Porter later sacked Footman to force a turnover, and Danny Johnson intercepted Footman on Alcorn State's next series to stall the Braves' rally.

Footman ran for 146 yards and three touchdowns, and added 300 yards passing and two more TDs.
