Tillery rushes for 245 yards in Southern's 44-34 win

PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas -- Austin Howard threw for four touchdowns and Lenard Tillery rushed for 245 yards on 29 carries as Southern University defeated Prairie View A&M 44-34 on Saturday.

Howard threw a 9-yard touchdown pass to Herbert Edwards to give the Jaguars a 37-20 lead with 9:49 left in the third quarter. The Jaguars scored on Trey Green's 25-yard pass to Darius Floyd to cut into the lead but Aaron Tiller recovered a Prairie View fumble in the end zone with 3:05 left in the third to give Southern a cushion.

The Panthers (6-4, 6-2), were knocked out of contention for the Southwestern Athletic Conference Western Division title, falling two games back of Southern (7-2, 7-0).

Southern's Willie Quinn caught five passes for 114 yards and a score.

Darius Ford had 10 catches for 134 yards and a score for the Panthers.
