Prairie View rallies to beat Alcorn State 31-27

PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas -- Jalen Morton scored two touchdowns on the ground and threw for another as Prairie View overcame an early 14-point deficit to beat Alcorn State 31-27 on Saturday.

Morton's 44-yard touchdown pass to Darius Floyd with 4:05 left in the third quarter gave Prairie View (6-3, 6-1 Southwestern Athletic) its first lead of the game at 24-21. Morton's 1-yard touchdown run capped a 13-play, 85-yard drive with 10:15 left to go.

Noah Johnson made it a one-possession game with 6:46 remaining, but Alcorn State (3-5, 3-4) punted on its next two possessions and turned it over on downs with 1:53 left.

Johnson finished with eight carries for 135 yards and three scores for the Braves, who intercepted Morton three times.

Sta'fon McCray pulled the Panthers to 14-7 with a 6-yard TD run to finish an 11-play, 52-yard drive. Quadre Butler fumbled the ensuing kickoff with 32 seconds remaining before the break and Armaury Martinez made a 32-yard field goal as time expired.
