Gahafer sets Pioneer record, Morehead State beats Butler

INDIANAPOLIS -- Austin Gahafer went 34 of 43 for 465 yards and five touchdowns and set a Pioneer League record with 11,231 career yards as Morehead State beat Butler 54-28 on Saturday.

Gahafer and Jacksonville's Josh McGregor are the only players in league history to top 11,000 yards.

Morehead State scored the first 34 points and cruised. Gahafer threw three touchdown passes in the first half -- 19 yards to Jarin Higginbotham, 48 to Jalen Elliott and 28 to Trevor Jones. Gahafer found Christian Robinson for 19 yards in the third quarter and Elliott for 77 yards in the fourth.

Jake Raymond made a team-high 12 catches for 105 yards for Morehead State (3-6, 2-4 Pioneer), which has scored 144 points in its last three games. Elliott finished with 149 yards on four grabs.

Malcolm Weaver threw for 207 yards and four touchdowns for Butler (4-6, 2-5). Pace Temple had eight catches for 92 yards and two scores.
